History
Buskerud Construction was incorporated in 1962 by Orville Buskerud to perform “roadside development” contracts on the newly developing national highway system. Through ownership transitions from the Buskerud family to the current ownership of Kari Karst, the company has always maintained a solid reputation for quality work in a timely manner. Buskerud Construction, Inc. is certified as a WBE/DBE.

Project Experience
Buskerud Construction has worked on South Dakota Department of Transportation projects covering the entire state, Corps of Engineers projects on the dam system and flood control projects in Sioux Falls, SD. City and County projects have also been a staple in our business. With the ability to put five or more crews on a project, we have consistently been able to meet the difficult time constraints of project completions over the years. Our experience and professionalism is often regarded as a relief to project inspectors as they know that the work will be accomplished on time and to specifications.

City of Freeman, SD Sixth Street Project
When a $2.2 million project is done in Sioux Falls or Rapid City, it hardly merits interest, but when a project of that size cuts a town of 1300 in half, all eyes are upon you and your progress.  Buskerud not only accepted this fact, but embraced it.  The engineer, owner and contractor shared an open line of communication from the very beginning with very clear cut goals.  Our common goal was to build a quality project, have a safe project and to keep the public informed regading all aspects of the project.  The project accomplished these goals and won both the Build South Dakota Award and the South Dakota ACPA concrete paving award.

SD DOT I-229 Design Build Project
Buskerud Construction, Inc. was instrumental in the first ever design-build project for the SDDOT in Sioux Falls, SD.  We were required to compile a complete survey of all existing structures and conditions prior to quoting this project and predesign the items that we would be constructing to complete our estimated costs for construction as the bidders were not familiar with our items prior to bidding.

Buskerud Construction, Inc. is the only local SDDOT certified DBE contractor with the knowledge of current highway safety standards and past history to take the risk and be awarded a contract for over $2 million on this project.  The design-build project was a joint venture of Gilbert Central and Parson’s Engineering and involved significant scheduling, design assistance, creativity and dedication of all employees that were involved.  Buskerud Construction completed all guardrails, sign structures, bridge modification and erosion control for this historic project.

The Pizza Ranch – Dell Rapids, SD
Buskerud Construction was the design build contractor for The Pizza Ranch located in Dell Rapids, SD.  With design and construction of a custom built restaurant that met franchise requirements, grading of the site area, and paving of the parking lots, this project shows our hometown pride.

Spruce Glen Housing Development
Situated alongside the Dells Rocky Run Golf Course in Dell Rapids, SD, this multi-phased family housing project continues to grow and bring new families to town.  This project started in 1998 when an additional nine holes were added to the existing golf course.  During the initial phase, light grading, surveying, seeding and project management were handled by Buskerud.  Since the initial phase we have been involved with coordinating subcontractors, providing construction services such as gravel surfacing, light grading, erosion control and project management.  We continue to provide our construction know how on this design build project to build an affordable housing development for families of all ages in relaxing Dell Rapids.
